RESERVE OCCUPATION

This handsome chap is my much missed Grandpa Reuben. As a Chartered Accountant he was in a Reserve Occupation and as such was turned down from every service he attempted to sign up with -and he tried them ALL! A keen sailor and pilot licence holder, he was up for any challenge. Eventually he was allowed to join the local LDV in May 1940 and served as Captain Brooks until demobbing. My memories of watching episodes of Dad's Army with him as a young child are as fresh as ever, with it reminding him of a certain chap he knew or a situation his platoon would get themselves into, especially being based on the south coast! God bless you Brookie, and THANK YOU xxxx
