V E Day at Appledore North Devon
My Father was serving at HMS Appledore, a Costal forces Base and was able to set up home in Irsha Street. For the first time in three and a half year of marriage, we were able to live as a family. My memory of V E Day was a Bonfire at the end of the street by the Life Boat Slip. At the time I was a two months away from my 4th birthday but remember the bonfire. followed by a second one on VJ Day.
